1. Use AR safely

Timule's augmented-reality features connect digital memories with real-world places.

Use AR only when it is safe, lawful and respectful to do so.

Always remain aware of your surroundings. A digital pin, arrow, distance indicator or AR object must never take priority over real-world conditions.

If continuing to use AR would distract you or place you or somebody else at risk, stop using the feature and move to a safe place.

2. A Timule pin is not permission to enter

A memory or AR pin is a digital location marker.

It does not give you:

  • permission to enter private property;
  • permission to cross a fence, barrier or restricted entrance;
  • a right to enter a business, venue or controlled area;
  • proof that a route is safe;
  • permission to ignore signs, staff instructions or local restrictions.

If reaching a memory would require unsafe or unauthorised access, do not attempt to reach it.

3. Where AR camera use may be restricted

Different places have different rules about cameras, recording, access and device use.

You are responsible for paying attention to local law, signs, access restrictions and instructions from authorised staff.

Sensitive private spaces

Do not use the AR camera where people reasonably expect privacy.

This can include bathrooms, changing or fitting rooms, locker rooms, treatment areas, bedrooms and similar private spaces.

Do not point the camera into private areas simply because you can see them from somewhere else.

Private property and residences

Respect private homes, gardens, gated areas and restricted parts of businesses.

Do not enter private property to reach a memory, cross barriers or point the camera into private homes or windows.

A Timule pin never creates permission to enter somebody else's property.

Secure and controlled locations

Military facilities, courts, security checkpoints, infrastructure sites and other controlled locations may restrict photography, recording, device use or physical access.

Follow applicable law, warning signs and instructions from authorised staff.

Do not use AR where camera use or access is prohibited.

Venues and businesses

Museums, theatres, entertainment venues, casinos, shops and other premises may have their own photography and recording policies.

Respect “No photography”, “No recording” and similar restrictions.

If authorised staff ask you to stop using the camera, stop using AR.

Roads and hazardous areas

Never use AR while:

  • driving;
  • cycling;
  • crossing a road;
  • operating machinery;
  • walking on railway tracks;
  • entering a construction site or industrial hazard area;
  • undertaking another activity that requires your full attention.

Move somewhere safe before using Timule.

A Timule pin is a digital location marker, not an instruction to follow an unsafe route.

4. People and privacy

Be considerate when other people may appear in your camera view.

Do not use Timule to secretly record, intimidate, follow, harass or intrude on another person.

Do not deliberately capture or share people in situations where they reasonably expect privacy.

The availability of an AR feature does not remove your responsibility to respect the rights and privacy of people around you.

5. AR location and positioning are not perfectly accurate

AR, GPS, maps, device sensors and geospatial positioning can be inaccurate or temporarily unavailable.

Pins can appear to drift or may not correspond exactly with a physical point.

Buildings, indoor environments, poor visibility, device limitations, connectivity and other environmental conditions can affect accuracy.

Do not rely on an apparently precise AR position as proof that:

  • a route is safe;
  • you are permitted to enter;
  • a physical object is located exactly where an AR object appears;
  • another person is or was present at that exact position.

6. Indoor and outdoor use

Indoor and outdoor AR can behave differently.

Indoor positioning may be less accurate because satellite positioning and other location signals can be limited.

Outdoor geospatial positioning can also vary depending on available location data, visual recognition, device capability and environmental conditions.

Use the surrounding physical environment, signs and your own judgement rather than relying exclusively on an AR marker.

7. Camera, location and AR technology

AR requires access to information needed to position digital content in the real world.

Depending on your device and the feature being used, this can include:

  • camera access;
  • device movement and orientation information;
  • location information;
  • information about the surrounding environment.

Timule uses Unity-based AR technology and, on supported devices, technologies such as Google ARCore or Apple ARKit.

Outdoor geospatial features may involve provider processing of camera and precise-location information.

For details about what information is processed, why it is used, providers involved and your privacy rights, read the Timule Privacy Policy.

8. Permissions and your choices

You can decline relevant camera or location permissions.

If you do so, AR features that depend on those permissions may not work.

You can change permissions through your device settings.

Permission to use your camera or location does not mean that Timule gives you permission to photograph a place, enter property or ignore local restrictions.

9. Stop when conditions change

Stop using AR immediately if:

  • traffic or people require your attention;
  • you approach a road, track, barrier or hazard;
  • a location becomes unsafe;
  • staff or an authorised person asks you to stop;
  • you realise camera use is prohibited;
  • another person reasonably asks you not to record them;
  • the AR position appears inaccurate or misleading.

Move to a safe place before continuing.

10. Report an unsafe placement or concern

If a Timule memory, AR placement or location-linked item creates a safety or privacy concern, use the reporting tools available in Timule.

admin@legacylabgroup.com

Describe the memory, location or issue and provide enough information for us to identify it.

Do not put yourself at risk in order to investigate or document an unsafe placement.

11. Changes to this notice

We may update this AR Safety Notice when Timule's AR features, technology providers, safety controls or applicable requirements change.

The version number and last-updated date identify the notice currently in force.

Where a material update requires a renewed acknowledgement, Timule may ask you to review the updated notice before using relevant AR features again.
